
Bob was born July 30, 1931 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He died peacefully surrounded by family and friends at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. He attended the University of Michigan earning a B.A. in Economics and History and a Secondary Teaching Degree in teaching. Upon graduation, he taught at the high school level in Clare, Michigan, a job which was always endearing to him. He later began a career with General Motors. He retired after 30 years as Divisional Director of Labor Relations from the Hydramatic Division, Ypsilanti, Michigan. He served in the United States Air Force as a Navigator and Air Intelligence Officer during the Korean conflict. Bob was an avid reader, he enjoyed the beauty of nature, gardening and hunting and fishing which he especially loved to share with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time at his home in Charlevoix, Michigan and especially loved the serenity of his log cabin at High Lake in the Huron Mountains of Michigan’s U.P. He shared all of this with his best friend, his beloved golden retriever Bo. He was often found having coffee in the morning at Washtenaw Dairy. He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Vera Foster and his brother, Richard Foster. Bob is survived by his wife Sharol and his children Robert (Wendy), Daniel (Jennifer), daughter Carolyne, brothers Fred Foster, Brian Fargher and sister Bette (Gus) Gomez as well as six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends and extended family members. Funeral arrangements handled by Muehlig Chapel, Ann Arbor, MI. with a memorial service on Saturday, February 3, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, 423 S. Fourth, Ann Arbor, MI. Family requests donations in to: Finlandia University, Hancock, MI, University of Michigan or the Huron Valley Humane Society.
