Age 96, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at his house with his daughters by his side.
Roland was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on March 26, 1918 to the late William and Rose (Rahr) Haynes. Roland married Mary Jane Fike on June 29, 1947 in Findlay, Ohio. They were married for 56 years until Mary Jane’s passing in 2004. He is survived by daughters Nancy (Kenneth) Feldkamp of Clinton, MI and Karen (Glenn) Eisenbrey of Louisville, KY; son-in-law Larry Mills of Tempe, AZ; grandchildren Amy (Bryan) Marr, John (Lauren) Feldkamp, Eric (Taryn) Eisenbrey, Emily (Orlando) Grimany, and Peter Eisenbrey; great-grandchildren Ellie Eisenbrey, Aiden Marr, and Sofia Grimany; five nieces, one nephew, and his special friend Marguerite Fisher.
Roland was a lifelong resident of Ann Arbor. He graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1937 and served in the US Navy during World War II. He was employed by American Broach and Machine Co., Buhr Machine Tool, and Roto Industries, Inc. Roland was also a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor.
Besides his wife, Roland was preceded in death by his oldest daughter Linda, an infant brother Ralph, his sister Loraine Litke Pustay, and two nieces.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 11 at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Liberty in Ann Arbor. Visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Monday, November 10 from 2-8 PM and Tuesday, November 11 from 10 AM until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Arborcrest Cemetery in Ann Arbor
