

Ruth Hickleton Likoudis passed away in Ann Arbor, Michigan on April 14 at 91 years of age after a brief illness. She was born on February 5, 1932 to parents Dr. George Taylor and Ruth Aikin Hickelton of Williamsville, N.Y.
Our beloved mother is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, noted Catholic writer James Likoudis. She is survived by brothers George Hickelton (Ashland, VA) and John Hickelton (Staffordville, CT) and sister Elizabeth Hickelton (Palm Springs, CA). Ruth was preceded in death by sisters Jean (Edward) Frank and Margaret (James) Kistner.
Ruth had 6 children: Paul (Deceased) (Paulette) Likoudis, Therese (Johnny) Williams of Ann Arbor, MI; Mark (Kathryn) Likoudis of Gibsonia, PA; Celine (Mark) Schanzer of Spring, TX; Catharine (Thomas) Kader of College Station, TX; and Margaret (David) Byerley of West Chester, PA. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Ruth become a devout Catholic in 1951 and amidst the storms that would beset the Church, she never failed in her fidelity to the Church's teachings. She lived by her favorite saying; " February's child loves to work, so life's duties will not shirk."
A visitation for Ruth will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 9:00 AM at Assumption Grotto Catholic Church, 13770 Gratiot Ave, Detroit, MI 48205. The rosary will begin at 9:45AM and a funeral mass will take place at 10:00AM.
