Terry found joy in the simple things and had a genuine curiosity about the world around him. He loved taking photographs and capturing the people, places, and moments that mattered to him. He was also an avid golfer and bowler, enjoying many years of both with his colleagues at the Ann Arbor News.
Terry dedicated more than 35 years to the Ann Arbor News, where he worked as an advertising representative before retiring. During his career, he was recognized multiple times as the Co-Op Salesperson of the Year, an accomplishment that reflected both his dedication to his work and the relationships he built with those around him.
A lifelong University of Michigan fan, Terry could often be found cheering on the Wolverines in football, hockey, and women's softball. He enjoyed live theater and made many wonderful memories attending performances with his beloved wife, Deanne, at the Purple Rose Theatre, Encore Theatre, and the Croswell Opera House. In summertime, Terry was happiest walking the beaches of Lake Michigan, finding petoskey stones along the way.
Terry was a caregiver at heart. He devoted many years to caring for his mother, father and brothers. His generosity and willingness to show up for the people he loved were among the qualities that defined him. Terry was also a proud father, and one of his many special memories was the season he coached all three of his sons' hockey teams.
Terry met the love of his life, Deanne, at the Fox Theatre. The two married in 1970 in Ann Arbor and shared more than 56 years of marriage together. Their life together was filled with family, laughter, theater, sports, and countless memories.
Terry will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Deanne; his three sons, Eric, Jason, and Ryan; His brother Michael; his daughters in law Anne, Lauren, and Meena; His granddaughters Avery, Violet, Rylee, Maddie, and June.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Margaret Juntunen, and brother Dan.
Terry's life will be celebrated by a small family gathering. In his memory, please consider supporting the conservation work at greatlakes.org.
