Age 60, died on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. He was born November 15, 1959 in Ann Arbor the son of George F. and Patricia L. (Arnold) Seyfried.
He graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High school and Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Thomas served his community through the Ann Arbor Police Department from 1981 thru 2005, accepting various assignments including working in the Special Investigations Unit, Special Tactics Unit, and the Washtenaw Area Narcotics Team. He retired with the position of Staff Sergeant in the Detective Bureau. He earned numerous certificates of Achievements, Awards, Plaques, not only from the AAPD, but also from the Michigan State Police, Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police, U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
After retirement from the police force, Tom spent a number of years working on the grounds crew for the Detroit Tigers. He also officiated high-school football for nine years which brought him much enjoyment and many new friends. He reached the pinnacle of high-school officiating by being selected by the MHSAA to work the Division-4 State Championship football game at Ford Field in 2013.
He was united in marriage to Elena Nolle on July 31, 2019. Although their marriage was short, they shared the love of travel as they spent time in Honduras and traveled through a great number of States during their time together.
He is survived by his wife, Irma Elena Nolle of Honduras; his sister Ann (Robert) LaCoste of Gallipolis, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents in 2002; and brother, David A. Seyfried in 1979.
Family will receive friends at Muehlig Funeral Chapel on Sunday, August 9th, 5-8 PM.
The interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethlehem United Church of Christ or a charity of choice.
