Victoria was born on September 20, 1922 in Union City, NJ to Elizabeth Rupp Hermida and Vincent Williams Hermida. She graduated from Tenafly High School in Tenafly, NJ. She went on to graduate from the Brooklyn Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY. She was very proud of and devoted to her nursing career. She spent most of her adult life happily in Ann Arbor, MI, working as a Registered Nurse at U-M Hospital. Vicki started in the recovery room. In the 60’s, she worked in the kidney transplant clinic. Later, she spent many dedicated years at Mott Children’s Hospital, on 7E and the Holden Prenatal Unit.
Victoria lived her life to the very fullest. She loved being a registered nurse, exotic travel, history, chocolate and animals. Life was an adventure to explore. She traveled the entire world from the North Pole to the South Pole. Plus, many interesting places in between, including Manitoba, Canada to see the migrating Polar Bears. Plus, China, Russia, Rwanda, South Africa, Europe, Machu Picchu, the Galapagos Islands, Greece, Egypt, Jordan, New Zealand and many more. Victoria, spent her 80th birthday in Paris. She prided herself on living her life in her very own way.
Victoria is survived by her special needs son, Gary Richard Hinds, devoted daughter, Diane Sorge and a very supportive son-in-law Rod Sorge. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Vincent Hermida, sister-in-law, Yvette and nephew Philip Hermida, all of New Jersey.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful owners of Barton Manor, in Ann Arbor, Carolyn, Stephen and Kim and the supportive caregivers there. We also want to thank the kind people and caregivers at MediLodge of Howell, MI. In addition, thank you for the support of Compassionate Hospice Care of Brighton and wonderful Registered Nurse, Katie. Thank you so very much to all these awesome people.

In accordance with Victoria’s wishes there will be no services. She has donated her body for research to the U-M Medical School.
