

Violet was an only child, born to Walter and Isabell Donaldson during World War II on July 19, 1939, in Bristol, England surviving the Bristol Blitz bombing raids. At the end of the war the family travelled back to her parents’ hometown in Toronto, Ontario Canada. She lived there throughout her school age years going to Business College after high school. During that time she met and later married Rev. Kennyon Edwards in 1958. Their marriage was a true testament to love and their faith in the Lord. Violet moved from Canada to Virginia, Michigan, New York and finally settling back to Michigan where she lived until the end. One of her proudest days was becoming a United States Citizen in 1981. Violet was the first in her family to graduate from college when she earned her associates degree from Washtenaw Community College. Violet worked as home care instructor for the blind in her early years and later as an office coordinator at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the Reichert Professional Building for many years until retirement.
Violet loved to knit, watch sports (especially the Red Wings), knit and talk to people. She was very active in her church and children’s/ grandchildren’s events. Her faith, family and friends were pillars of life. She was a long time member Of Bethlehem United Church of Christ.
Violet is survived by her sons; Dr. K. Don (Louise) Edwards and Walter Ray (Alicia) Edwards, grandchildren; Ian, Erin, Stirling, Connor, Collin and Kayla, and great grandchildren; Stanley Smith and Everly Donnelly; godson Bryan Hixson.
