“Anna Lib” was born March 22, 1930 in Des Moines, IA to John Bloodgood and Carolyn Steele Wells, and older sibling John B. Wells, Jr.
Her father was a traveling executive with Baltimore-based USF&G, leading her and her family to spend early years in New Orleans and Dallas before returning with family to their native Annapolis. There she wed USMC Captain George S Belli, who later became Bronze Star recipient for his heroism in Korea.
Anna Lib attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from University of Texas. She was past-president of Tau Omicron Phi service sorority and a member of the Junior League of Baltimore. In later life, she was member of Annapolis Yacht Club and the St. Anne’s Church Alter Guild. She also was an avid attendee of her weekly aerobics classes.
Anna Lib loved her family, her flower garden, her perfunctory rescue cats, and partaking in silly pranks at the dinner table with her granddaughters.
She is predeceased by her brother John and husband George. Survived by her children John W. “Jack” Belli, Elizabeth Belli, and Catherine Greene; son-in-law Jeff Greene and granddaughters Sally and Georgia Greene.
