

On Sunday, April 5, 2026, Barbara Anne Nicol went home to Heaven. Beloved wife of 48 years to the late Paul Albert Nicol, Sr. Loving mother of three children; the late Sharon Nicol, survived by Paul (Amy) Nicol, Jr. of Victor, N.Y. and Jennifer (Ronald) Allen of Pasadena, MD. Cherished grandmother of Joshua Allen, the late Justin (Tiffany) Allen, Gracie (Aubrey) Dawson and Mercie (Jason) Austin. Great grandmother of Adelynne Allen, Asa Dawson and Jesse Dawson. She loved her family very much!
Barbara was born March 9, 1931, to the late William and Annie Nash. She was predeceased by her eight siblings; Monica Gregory-Hill, Frank Nash, Mary Saxon, Richard Nash, John Nash, Andrew Nash, Raymond Nash, and Jennifer McCrary.
Barbara was raised in Kent, England and came to the U.S. when she was 18 years old and worked as a secretary at the Ceylon Embassy in Washington, D.C. She was an excellent typist! She met her husband at an ice skating rink in Washington, D.C. and they married November 23, 1957. They lived in Edgewater Beach, MD since 1958 and raised their family.
She was a member of the Davidsonville Homemakers. Her hobbies were gardening, knitting, sewing, arts and crafts. She loved animals and enjoyed feeding birds and the raccoons that came to her deck. She was called the "Neighborhood Vet". She raised injured or orphaned wild animals (birds, rabbits & a flying squirrel) & then would let them go. She was also a dedicated babysitter for kids in the neighborhood. She had such a kind heart and would do anything for anyone.
A "Celebration of Life" service will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1015 Sundown Rd., Ferndale, MD 21061. Viewing 10am-12pm. Service at 12pm and refreshments in the church hall afterwards.
