

Carroll R. O’Neill, 91, of Annapolis passed away peacefully on April 7, 2016. He was the devoted husband of Rosana F. O’Neill (deceased) and beloved father of Raymond Schliep, Jr. (deceased), Patrick O’Neill, Richard Schliep, Cembra Taylor, Margaret Dammeyer, and Kathleen O’Neill. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Carroll was born in Baltimore, MD on April 12, 1924 and attended St. Gregory’s Elementary School, Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Johns Hopkins University and graduated from the United States Military Academy West Point (1946). Colonel O’Neill served proudly in the US Army for 22 years, earned a Purple Heart in the Korean War, and retired from the military in 1968. For the next 39 years, he resided in Rockville, MD and was a successful stockbroker with Paine Webber / UBS. Carroll enjoyed many happy times fishing and crabbing at Solomons Island with his many friends and large family. He retired for a second time at the age of 83 and moved to Annapolis with his wife, Rosie, and his treasured dog, Gilley. Friends may call on Monday, April 11, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at John M. Taylor Funeral Home in Annapolis, MD. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 12 at 10:30 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Annapolis. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Tuition Angel Fund, 109 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401.
