Cecelia "Cissy" Scullen

Cecelia V. Scullen "Cissy" (Age 102) Passed away peacefully on September 27,2025 in Annapolis, MD, surrounded by her loving family, friends, and amazing caregivers. She was truly blessed to have had so many wonderful people in her life, including the caregivers who supported her with grace and dignity over the past several years, and the close knit neighbors in Heritage Harbor, who always looked out for her. Cissy lost her vision totally in 2020 due to macular degeneration and glaucoma, but was able to stay in her home with assistance until the present time. She has lived in Heritage Harbor for the past 20 years, 13 of those years with her beloved husband Ted, who passed in 2017.

Cecelia Volkman was born to Harry and Mary Volkman in Washington, DC on January 1, 1923. She attended St. Cecilia’s Academy followed by a short time at Dunbarton College. Cissy was a dancer and performer and met Ted through various theater and dance company performances associated with the Catholic University Hartke Theater. They were married in 1943. Later in life, Cissy would become a fashion model and fashion stylist for several Washington based clothiers. Ted and Cissy raised a family of four in Bethesda MD, until they moved to Annapolis in 1976. Cissy was a life-long member of the Christ Child Society, loved to play tennis and was passionate about her golf game, playing well into her 90’s.

She is predeceased in death by the love of her life Edward J. Scullen (Ted). Cissy is survived by her daughter Joan Hearn, her son Kevin (Carrie), her daughter Kerry Butler (Bill), her son Tim; five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday October 8, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. John Neumann Mission Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. The service will be followed by a reception for family and friends.
