Clara Elizabeth Frantum

She was the daughter of the late Edward N. Phipps “Eddie” of Annapolis and the late Clara E. Phipps (nee Langville) who made her home with Pat until her death at the age of 106.

Born and raised in Annapolis, she moved to Richmond in 1971 working for Westinghouse, which later became Infilco Degremont Inc. (IDI). She worked for IDI for 33 years, becoming Supervisor of Word Information Systems before she retired in 1999. She was the first woman inductee into the Quarter Century Club and in 1994, became the first woman president then later held the recording secretary position for many years after her retirement.

Pat also worked for the Richmond Newspaper for 25 years before retiring in 1998, taking paid death notices directly from the funeral directors over the telephone.

In 2000, her mother asked to move back to Annapolis to be with the family as she was getting older. Ironically, the rest of the family passed on before her.

Besides her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her son: Michael Edward Frantum, Sr. of Pittsville, MD; her brothers: Nelson I. Phipps of Annapolis, MD and William E. Phipps of American Corner, MD; niece: Ja’nice Phipps; nephew: William Phipps.

She is survived by her three grandsons: Michael Edward Frantum, Jr (Brittnee) of Pittsville, MD, Derrek Lee Frantum of Pittsville, MD, Devin Ethan Frantum (Jocelyn) of Parsonsburg, MD; grandchildren: Colton Frantum, Dawson Frantum, Cooper Frantum, Charlotte Frantum, and Mason Frantum; daughter in law and friend: Donna LeCates (Everett) of Pittsville, MD; good friends: Tanina and Jim Godar of Crownsville, MD; nephews: Scott and Wesley Phipps of Edgewater, MD, Nelson Phipps, Jr and Christopher Alton of Annapolis, MD; nieces: Patricia Berg And Angela Herpel of Glen Burnie, MD; several cousins.

A Graveside Service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens 1911 Forest Drive Annapolis, MD 21401 on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 12:00 pm.
