Clarel Carnahan Lowry, 72, of Annapolis passed away September 8 at UMMC. Although Clarel was born in Minneapolis, MN, she moved a lot as a child and considered Glenview, IL to be her hometown. Clarel graduated from Towson High School and went on to attend Towson State.
In 1968 she married James “Jay” Lowry and had two daughters, Jacqueline and Jennifer. The family moved to Annapolis in 1976. They divorced in 1981.

Over the years she worked for Jack McKim CPA, Manis Wilkinson & Snyder LLP, Gebhardt & Smith LLP, Symphony Management, TransAlta (Merchant Energy Group/MEGA) and FTI Consulting until her retirement in 2012.
Clarel could best be described as smart, warm, strong, practical, lovely and sharp witted. She was a mother figure to many people, whether it was friends of her daughters or people she worked with. She was generous with her time, advice, wisdom and laughter.
