Cynthia Ann Esenwein

Born to Suzanne and George F. Esenwein at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 24,1955, close to the Indianapolis Speedway. Cindy would attend the Indianapolis 500 with friends, returning back sunburned and happy. It was one of her favorite memories as a proud Hoosier.

When the family moved from Indiana to Washington DC in 1963, Cindy found many friends in their Wood Acres neighborhood in Bethesda Maryland.

The family spent summers on Lake Wawasee in Syracuse, Indiana at her grandparents’ summer cottage. Cindy was the best slalom water skier in a family of extremely competitive water sports enthusiasts. She was happiest out on the lake water skiing, sailing, swimming, fishing or just puttering around in one of her grandfather’s numerous boats.

Cindy graduated from Walt Whitman High School in 1974 and attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico studying Biology and Hearing & Speech Pathology and Audiology. She loved her work at the UNM Hospital as a unit charge manager while attending classes.

Cindy returned to Bethesda in 1988, enjoying her work as a medical assistant to several area physicians. Cindy loved her family and her young nephews. Cindy was the “faunt” (fun aunt) to her nephews, David and Morgan Fiddler, Marshall and Bruce McNair. She treated her nephews to trips to the movies, Dave and Busters, Chucky Cheese, the ball pit at White Flint Mall and McDonald’s, their favorite spots.

Growing up with dogs and cats, Cindy loved all of her canine friends, but none more than her beloved King Charles Cavalier, Sasha, the love of her life.

Cindy is survived by her brother Todd Esenwein, sister Leslie McNair (Bruce), nephews Marshall (Kristin), Bruce (Sheridan), great nephews Sawyer and George, and nephews David Fiddler (Erin), Morgan Fiddler (Anna) and great nephews and niece Pierce, Harrison, Theo, Jude, Oliver and Charlotte. She was predeceased by her sister Kathleen Fiddler (Robert).
