OBITUARY

Daniel P. Hiniker

April 4, 1946March 16, 2020

Daniel Hiniker passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020, at his home in Annapolis, Maryland.

He was born on April 4, 1946, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to George and Harriett (Kager) Hiniker, who preceded him in death. He spent his childhood in Saint Paul, then moved with his family to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School.

Dan had retired after working as a printer at the Washington Post, the Washington Times, the Washington Star, and the Washington Daily News. He also ran his own print shop, the Rainbow Press, in Washington, DC. He served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Vietnam War.

He loved working on projects, and often had many going at the same time. He also enjoyed riding his two motorcycles, a Norton and a Ducati, and took several solo trips throughout the United States. He and his wife Judy traveled extensively, visiting their daughter in the many places she has lived around the world, from Cambodia to Poland to Pittsburgh. He never missed an opportunity to debate the finer points of whichever topic that happened to come up.

He is survived by his wife, Judy (Hilliard), of Annapolis, Maryland, and his daughter, Alexandra, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as well as his five siblings: Jean Ryberg of Frederick, Maryland; Tom Hiniker of Lexington, Massachusetts; Jerry Hiniker of Grand Marais, Minnesota; George Hiniker of Gardner, Massachusetts; and Steve Hiniker of Madison, Wisconsin.

He will be cremated. A celebration of his life will be organized at a later date due to the present healthcare precautions.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Legacies of War (www.legaciesofwar.org).
