David Evans Weaver passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 in Wilmington, DE. David was born on March 7,1970 in Annapolis, MD. Raised inSeverna Park and Annapolis, his childhood days were spent in the Severn River, sparking his love of sailing. As a teenager he joined Severn Sailing Association (SSA) where he made lifelong friendships. Growing up he formed a close bond with his beloved grandfather, the Honorable Matthew S. Evans, known to his family as “Chief.” David loved his family and the history it holds in Annapolis, he was able to recite stories about his ancestors, because of the many talks he and
Chief had over the years.
In 1988 David graduated from Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal, VA where he played soccer, swimming, golf and became a member of the ROTC. He joined the United States Air Force in 1988, entering the 709th AS in Dover, DE, the same unit his father served in from 1980-89. David graduated with a Political Science Degree from the University of Delaware in 1995. He then attended New York Law School, graduating with a JD in 1998 and passing the Maryland Bar upon completion. Following law school, he became a clerk for the Honorable Lawrence H. Rushworth at the Circuit Court in Annapolis, the same courthouse his grandfather presided as a Chief Judge from 1957-77. Thereafter he began his legal
career with local attorney Ed Wayson. David soon decided to continue his military service and received an appointment to pursue a career as an USAF Pilot.
David had a distinguished military career in the USAF, serving in both Gulf Wars and Afghanistan as a C-5 Loadmaster, a JAG, and an Air Force pilot. He was awarded various medals and decorations including the Air Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. He retired as a Major from the USAF on March1, 2022. Over the years David enjoyed being a member of several golf clubs, including Keswick Club in Charlottesville, VA where he was a longtime resident. He was also a member of the Annapolis Yacht Club (AYC) and the Annapolitan Club in Annapolis, MD where you could find him recounting the good old days and having a laugh with friends. David might be most remembered by his many friends and family as a gifted storyteller. He was always the first one to volunteer to give a
speech on any occasion, the stories he told were colorful and (mostly) true. His embellishments only made the stories better and always got some laughs!
However, David would most want to be remembered as a devoted father. He loved his three children and was incredibly proud of them.
David is survived by his three precious children, Shiloh, Brooklyn, and Teddy-James Weaver and former wife Jennifer Von Reuter. His mother, Lucy Kay Evans Weaver, sister Nancie Weaver David(Richard) niece Emma and nephew Henry, brother Rich Johnson(Blair) nephews Silas and Nate and niece Ellie. Fiancé Beth Ann Hirst(Lauren and Jay). He is also survived by his cousins Matthew Strohm Evans III(Sheila), Margaret Evans Hayden, Nila Evans Bullock(Jake), Andrew Allen Evans, Brian Herring Weaver(Michelle), and Russell Taft Weaver. As well
as many members of his extended family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his father James Pointer Weaver and his
grandparents, the Honorable Matthew S. Evans and Nancie Ray Evans, Herman Pointer Weaver and Adelaide Taft Weaver and his uncle's Matthew Strohm Evans Jr. and Richard Taft Weaver.
