Dennis Korda Kade

Charming, handsome, athletic with twinkling eyes and a quick smile.

A brilliant “lawyer’s lawyer”; as appellate counsel for OSHA he helped make workers safer through lead, methylene chloride, and cotton dust standards. He was senior attorney for the Chicago Regional Solicitor's office but returned east to run the ERISA program in New York. He wrote well and edited ruthlessly. Dennis “didn’t suffer fools easily” but was always willing to enlighten any eager to learn. A wordsmith with a dry wit who many thought should teach law.

Dennis knew Latin but couldn’t master foreign languages still he traveled to much of Africa, U.S, Europe, Mexico and Turkey – his favorite. Even to Rio to dance the nights away at Samba clubs. He enjoyed Rock & Roll concerts, the Met for Italian Opera or the Ballet and Jazz.

The kid in him followed and played sports. He ran 5 miles after work, played in pickup basketball games in D.C., skiing in the Rockies and Vermont. He played tennis and ran until the last years.

Respected (even by opposing counsel) and loved by many. He will be missed mostly by his dog Mabel and his wife of many years, Helene.
