Doris E. Purdy

On February 19, 2018 Doris, age 104, passed away. She was born in Baltimore, MD on March 25, 1913.

Her family moved to the South River area when she was in her teens and graduated from Annapolis High School in 1931. She married the late Dudley W. Purdy in 1932. Dudley Purdy was with the USNA Athletic Association for 50 years and Doris traveled extensively with him and attended many USNA athletic events. Doris enjoyed raising her family and was an active member of Edgewater UMC.

After Dudley passed, Doris happily resided at the Ginger Cove Retirement Community for 21 years.

She is survived by her three children Diane Ogden, Dale Wexler, and Dudley W. Purdy Jr., five grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren.

Friends and family may call at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Friday February 23rd from 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday February 24th at 11 AM at the Edgewater UMC 2764 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater, MD 21037. Burial at Cedar Bluff Cemetery.
