Dorothy Klinefelter Waters Earll, 89, a longtime resident of Annapolis, passed away peacefully at Ginger Cover Health Center on March 7. Wife of the late Homer Earll and previously the late Bosley Waters, Dottie was Born in Baltimore MD to George and Dorothy Klinefelter.
She attended Calvert School and Garrison Forest School before graduating from Roland Park Country School in 1947. She later graduated from Western Maryland College in 1951. After graduation, she worked with her cousin, Bettie Farber, teaching ballroom dancing.
Dottie moved to Annapolis in 1958 where she became president of the Junior League. During that time, she helped form and incorporate the Children’s Theatre of Annapolis and became its first president. She joined two of her friends in opening Art Things Inc. As an active member of the Auxiliary of the Anne Arundel General Hospital, she became chairman of the volunteer placement committee. Other community services included president of the Inner Wheel of the Annapolis chapter of the Rotary International, trustee on the board of the Hammond Harwood House, president of the Severn School PTA, volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sally Southard (Bob) and Betty Phipps (Wilson), her two-stepchildren, Ken Earll (Pam) and Ginny Soybel, and their families, as well as her four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Her service will be held on Tuesday, March 13 at 12:00 at the John M Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, MD. The family will receive friends and relatives at 11:00 am where a service will be held at 12 pm noon in the Taylor Chapel.
