Edward Francis Holcombe

Edward F. Holcombe, 87, died peacefully at Ginger Cove in Annapolis, Maryland on August 17, 2018 due to complications resulting from surgery. He was born Dec. 10, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN one of 3 sons and 3 daughters born to Jesse and Margaret Holcombe. He enlisted in the USAF in 1950 and served our country during the Korean Conflict. He retired from military service in 1957 as an officer, rated to fly jets, helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. He joined Eastern Airlines in 1958 as a pilot and flew commerical jets until his retirement in 1989. During his 31 year career with the airline, Ed and his family lived near airports in Los Angeles CA, Richmond VA, Miami FL, and the Annapolis MD area. Ed is survived by his devoted wife Joyce, of 58 years and 3 children, graduates of St Mary's Elementary and High School: Son Gregory (Marie) residing in Bronxville New York, daughters Lauri Lykes in Miami, Florida, and Jill Holcombe in White Plains, New York. Ed leaves behind 4 beloved grandchildren; Annie Holcombe, Katie Holcombe, Brent Lykes, and Ashley (David) Hamlin as well as 1 great grandchild Joseph Hamlin. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, great grandfather and friend to all. Ed was an Annapolis resident for 47 years, a member of the Annapolis Yacht Club since 1971, and a parishioner of St Mary's Roman Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass is scheduled at St. Mary's Church on Saturday September 22nd at 9:00am. His ashes will be interred at St Joseph's New Cemetery in Cincinnati Ohio.
