Edward James Albert Porter II, 76, of Annapolis, MD, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025. Born on February 19, 1949, Ed led a varied and interesting life, marked by quiet introspection and love for his family.
Ed's career path reflected his diverse interests. In his life, he worked as a farrier, shoeing horses, and honed his culinary skills working in restaurants, becoming an excellent cook. He had a successful career in furniture sales, working for the Door Store until its closure, and subsequently for the mail-order furniture company Homeward. Near the end of his life, he brought his sales expertise to Nordstrom and Omaha Steaks.
A quiet and private man, Ed was a tinkerer by nature, always enjoying the process of creation and repair. He cherished his relationship with his wife, Beverly Sroka-Porter, and found great joy in her family, especially working on cars with his brothers-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his stepson, Bradley Sroka; and his sister, Kathy. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary.
In accordance with his wishes, Ed was cremated, and there will be no funeral service.
