Frank R. Weathersbee, of Crownsville, MD, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. He was 71. Frank was born in Washington, DC to the late Frank B. and Margaret Hutton Weathersbee. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland College Park in 1965 and his law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1969. He became an Anne Arundel County prosecutor in 1969. In 1977, he was promoted to the position of Deputy State's Attorney, serving in that role until 1988 when he was selected to be the State’s Attorney for Anne Arundel County. He was elected to that Office six times and retired in 2013. Immediately following his retirement in 2013, Frank received a Governor's appointment to the Maryland Parole Commission. Best known for his work in the field of victims' rights, Weathersbee said his greatest accomplishment was building the County's Victim-Witness Services program. Frank was a long time member of the State Board of Victims Services and a Board member for over 10 years with Hope House Treatment Center. He was a member of the National District Attorney’s Association, a member of the Annapolis Elks Lodge #622 and the Parole Rotary Club. Frank was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoyed reading, sailing, golf, travel and building model airplanes. Frank is survived by his wife Patricia “Pat” Weathersbee, whom he married in 1986. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters: Camela Weathersbee of Ellicott City, MD and Lara Weathersbee of Columbia, MD; 2 step-daughters: JoAnna George of Elkton, MD and Brianna Harcum of Annapolis, MD. Frank is also survived by a brother: Gary Weathersbee of Rockville, MD; a sister: Marla Bowser of Ijamsville, MD and 8 grandchildren. Friends may call on Friday, April 17th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, MD. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Anne Arundel County Courthouse, Church Circle, in the Ceremonial Courtroom on Saturday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception. Interment will be at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Annapolis, MD at approximately 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hope House Treatment Center-the Frank Weathersbee Memorial Scholarship Fund, 26 Marbury Road, Crownsville, MD 21032.
