Margaret Jane Rodgers of Annapolis, Maryland passed away peacefully at home on October 2nd, 2026, at the age of 76. At the time of her death, she was attended by her husband of 55 years, Douglas Elwin Rodgers.
Jane was born to a family steeped in Irish Catholic history and tradition on April 15th, 1950, in Atchison, Kansas to Veronica Ann Brady and William R. (Bill) Brady. Jane graduated Mount St. Scholastica Academy in 1968 where she was the homecoming queen and head cheerleader. She was proud to graduate from the University of Kansas in 1972 with a degree in dance, a talent which she revealed repeatedly over the years always to the delight of everyone around. She met her future husband, Doug, while at KU on a surprise double date to see Doug Clark & The Hot Nuts in 1969 where they quickly became inseparable.
Doug and Jane were married on May 22nd, 1971, at St. Benedictine’s Catholic Church, Atchison Kansas by Father K. McInery. They went on to share a lifelong love spanning 55 years of marriage. Their story began in Lawrence, Kansas with indelible college friends. The newlywed’s honeymoon in Italy was a world away for two students from Kansas. This would begin their passion for travel and exploration together whereby they would go on to see the much of the US and many parts of the world while living in Lawrence, Oklahoma City, Washington DC and eventually Annapolis.
Jane followed in her family’s tradition of teaching and was beloved by her students for her way of relating to them with honesty and instinct to find fun in the work. It helped that she coached girls’ sports and led cheers when she drove the bus to away games. She had a second career as a successful home builder in Oklahoma City while also supporting her husband’s businesses in immeasurable ways. Styles would change throughout the years, including Jane’s often updated hair styles which were seldom anticipated by her extended family. However, Jane’s values were unwavering in hard work, dedication to her family, and quietly elevating the communities where she dedicated herself. Jane had a magnetic personality wherever she went. In 1986 Jane was the president of the Quail Creek Elementary School PTA where she organized and led the financing of the addition of a school-wide central air-conditioning system while Brady and Courtney attended the school. This was the first air-conditioned elementary school in Oklahoma City at the time. This project was one of many instances when Jane carved a new path to force growth and change after being told, “but this is the way it’s always been.”
While in Oklahoma City, Doug and Jane had a son, Brady Douglas Rodgers, and a daughter, Courtney Jane Rodgers, now Courtney Jane Jaeger. Jane dedicated her life to teaching and building up her children. Her dedication and relentless efforts ensured that her tightly knit family would remain very close ever after. She will be deeply missed by all.
Over the decades Jane and Doug worked hand in hand building several businesses. Jane was the leader and driving force behind their first endeavor which was Rodgers & Rodgers homebuilders in Oklahoma City which completed over 20 residences in the eighties. She then worked for Whitehall Labs in pharmaceutical marketing followed by roles alongside Doug at Global Software, Electronic Trading Solutions, and Focus Investment Banking. In these roles Jane planned and executed company events across the United States. Those events were integral to the growth and personal relationship development of the respective work forces in all of these successful businesses.
Jane is survived by her husband Douglas Elwin Rodgers, children Courtney Jane Jaeger and Brady Douglas Rodgers, sister Mary Ann Humphries, and grandchildren Mairin Elle Rodgers, Bowen Duncan Rodgers, Mathew Beckett Jaeger and Elenor Legier Jaeger.
