

John B. Coon (Jack) died on February 20, at Arden Court in Kensington, MD. He was 90 years old. Jack was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts June 9, 1935, the son of Mary Trainor Coon and Eugene Coon. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and received a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame and an MS from Syracuse University. Following his graduation from Notre Dame, Jack joined the Federal Systems Division of the IBM Corporation and worked in government contracting until his retirement in 2009. He then joined the Raytheon Corporation until his final retirement when he and Lois moved to Sherwood Forest, Md. Jack enjoyed tennis, pickleball and driving his boat on the Severn River. He particularly loved the summers his grandchildren came for camp.
Jack is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lois Reynolds Coon, their children, Kathleen Casey and her husband Stephen Casey of Miami Beach, Florida, and John P. Coon and his husband Bradley Frey of Washington, DC, his grandchildren Marcus, Noah, and Gabriella (Ella) Logan and his sister, Elizabeth Gamwell of Melbourne, Florida and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life to remember Jack will be held in April in Sherwood Forest.
