Keith will be remembered for the acts of love and kindness that he showed towards his friends and family. He has been described by his son as an “extroverted-introvert”, easy to befriend and converse with, while also enjoying the quiet comforts of an evening at home. He was a big football fan, claiming neither ownership of, nor responsibility to any team in particular, but enjoying a hearty challenge to the Washington Football Team.
In his youth, Keith was a Stanford University basketball player and Economics graduate. He met his wife, Alison Selleck while they were both students at Stanford. Alison was a primary care physician who was remembered by her patients for her warm bedside manner, and by her friends and family for her fun-loving energy. She passed away in 2007 after a long battle with brain cancer. They lived for many years in Fairfax, Virginia with their son, Spencer.
Keith later worked at Kaiser Permanente for 13 years as a senior manager. His friends and co-workers remember him as a great leader who was passionate about his job.
When Keith became owner of Chick and Ruth's Delly in 2017, he made local history by becoming the first African American owner of an Annapolis Main Street business. To restaurant staff, he was a thoughtful leader and mentor. They remember with love and humor his orders of "chicken noodle soup with no chicken". Under Keith’s leadership, the restaurant served as a community for patrons and staff alike.
Keith was much loved by his son, Spencer Jones, who works as a Technical Solutions Engineer at Epic Systems Healthcare in Madison, Wisconsin. In December 2019, Spencer graduated from Virginia Tech with a major in Statistics. He and his father were very close and would bond over long chats about politics and sports.
In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to the National Brain Tumor Society and the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation.
