Kenneth Charles Meyer

Ken is survived by his wife Karen Wyatt-Meyer (Robbins) of 27 years, his stepdaughter Hannah (Matt) Dudek (Wyatt). He will be deeply missed by his siblings Fran (Tom) Curley, Jim (Dana) Meyer, Anne VanBennekom, his many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by parents, Howard and Lydia Meyer (Senior), his brother Howard (Cheryl) Meyer, and his sister Katie Brackett.

Born on May 29, 1941 in Teaneck, NJ, Ken graduated from Tenafly High School in 1959. A standout both academically and athletically, he excelled as a multi-sport athlete and served as captain of the football team. His academic achievements earned him a scholarship to Dartmouth College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Geography. Ken went on to pursue graduate studies at Syracuse University, earning both a Master’s in Geography and a Ph.D. in Urban and Economic Geography.

Throughout his life, Ken held a variety of roles, including medic in the National Guard, mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, claims examiner for Hartford Insurance, and assistant professor of Geography at Temple University.

Most notably, Ken had a distinguished 31-year career in public service with the U.S. Census Bureau. Ken joined Census in1979 and served in various roles, traveling extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He worked as a Survey Statistician and Geography Specialist for the Philadelphia Region, Geography Advisor to the Central Department of Statistics in Saudi Arabia, Manager and Regional Director for the New York Region, and Division Chief of the Public Information Office (PIO).

Ken was an avid sports fan who especially loved tennis—both playing and watching—and attended the U.S. Open whenever he could. He also became a devoted Nationals fan, experiencing pure joy during the 2019 World Series. Ken’s happy place was the beach, whether it was relaxing in Ocean Grove, NJ, enjoying family trips to Nags Head, NC, or simply reading by the pool at his Annapolis home in the woods.

The family will receive friends at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home 147 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, Maryland 21401 on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. A Celebration of his Life will begin at 11:30 AM. Immediately following the Celebration of Life there will be a light lunch with refreshments at Carrol's Creek Cafe 410 Severn Ave, Annapolis, MD 21403.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Ken's name to Hospice Of the Chesapeake John and Kathy Belcher campus 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122 will be appreciated.
