Kenny Webb, 89, passed away peacefully on September 16th, 2018. He was born on New Years Eve December 31st 1928 and was the son of Kenneth and Blanche Webb of Tracy’s Landing, Maryland.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, June Ward Webb, daughters Donna Dunton (David) and Joann Jerome (Peter); four grandchildren Melissa LaChapelle (Marcus), Stephen Dunton, Christie Dunton, Paul Martin and two great grandchildren, Alexa and Owen LaChapelle.
In 1945, after graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army. After discharge he attended the University of Maryland, College Park. He went on to become an accountant fiscal officer at the Board of Trustees for Maryland State Colleges and retired from State services after 35 years.
He married his high school sweetheart in 1951 and they were married for 67 years. They raised their family in Greenwood Acres, Annapolis Maryland where they made many lifelong friendships.
Kenny grew up on a tobacco farm in Tracy’s Landing in southern Maryland where he began his love for hunting and gardening. He loved music including Classical, Big Band, Rag Time and Classical German Opera but his favorite was Dixie Land Jazz. In his later years he became an avid reader and enjoyed challenging crossword puzzles. His greatest joys included cheering for his grandchildren and great grandchildren at their sports events, entertaining friends and spending quality time with his family.
A lifelong member of the Annapolis Elks Lodge #622, he served as Treasurer (15yrs), Exalted Ruler and District Deputy. He was a member of the Annapolis Moose Lodge and American Legion Squadron #0007. He was also a member of the Annapolis Fleet Reserve Club where he enjoyed countless gatherings with family and friends.
He will always be remembered as a true gentleman and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His genuine acts of kindness, keen wit and sense of humor will never be forgotten.
Funeral service will be private but the family welcomes Kenny’s friends and family to a Celebration of his Life on Saturday, September 22nd 4:00-7:00pm at the LaChapelle home. Please email [email protected] for more information.
