

Mrs. Howard A. Gebelein (Louise B.), 87, of Annapolis went to be with the Lord on October 26, 2015. She was born to the late Adam and Daisy Baumgartner, April 18, 1928 in Baltimore, MD. Louise attended an accelerated high school created for students to do three years of work in two. She was very athletic, competing in gymnastics and basketball, and enjoying swimming and volleyball. Louise married Howard in 1950, and together for 40 years they built the business of City Upholstering Company in Annapolis (sold in 1990), and enjoyed being members of the Canvas Association. She served on Executive Boards for the Mental Health Association of Anne Arundel County, the YWCA of Annapolis, the International Professional Secretary’s Association, and St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Day School and Endowment Fund. She was president of Colonial Nursery School and the St. Martin’s Alter Guild. She actively volunteered at church and for Anne Arundel Medical Center. Louise led the way for United Way Campaigns at Westinghouse Oceanic where she worked as an Administrative Assistant in Contracts. In her later years, she worked as an Executive Secretary for the Anne Arundel County Health Department. She was an avid bridge player who loved to swim, read, play the piano, and travel the world!
Louise was the devoted wife of the late Howard Gebelein, loving mother of the late Bruce Gebelein, and sister-in-law of the late George Gebelein. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Lynn and David Cottle, her son Craig Gebelein and his fiancé Jo Anne Baker, her son and daughter in-law Wayne and Dorina Gebelein, her sister and brother-in-law Dolores and John N. Ruth Jr., 2 nieces, a nephew, and eleven grandchildren. She lived life with an attitude of gratitude and sincerely appreciated the kindness of friends.
Friends and family may call at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc. 147 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, MD on Thursday, October 29th from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 1120 Spa Rd, Annapolis, MD on Friday, October 30th at 11 AM. Burial St. Anne’s Cemetery, Annapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to a charitable organization of your choice.
