

Louise Woodfield Morris died Wednesday, December 31, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Severna Park where she lived for the past 7 years, loved not only by her family, but by the staff and other residents. She was 86 years old. Born January 6, 1928 in Galesville, Md. to former Maryland legislator Albert W. Woodfield and Louise Hopkins, she grew up in Galesville and graduated from Southern High School. She attended classes at University of Maryland in College Park until meeting and marrying the love of her life, the late Karlton F. Morris. Together they had three sons and established, owned and operated Karlton’s Floral Gardens for 39 years. During those years, Mrs. Morris was very active in the community. She was a member of the Anne Arundel General Hospital’s Auxiliary for many years and served as president in 1973 and 1974. She served on the Board of Managers of Anne Arundel General Hospital representing the Auxiliary and chaired three fund-raising events, including the Pink Lady Ball. Mrs. Morris was a member and officer of the Soroptimist Club of Annapolis and served on the Board of Providence Center, served on the committees to organize the Fine Arts Festival in Annapolis and the Bicentennial celebration in Annapolis. She was a member of the Caritas Society of St. John’s College and served as a Deacon and Chairman of the Deacons at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Morris was a very loving, compassionate and hard-working woman. She is survived by her three sons Karlton F. Morris, Jr., William A. Morris and Richard H. Morris, her four grandchildren Jennifer Morris Black, Lindsay Morris Clarke, Ryan Morris and Michael Morris, and her great grandson, Grayson Clarke. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Balto-Annap Blvd in Severna Park on Saturday, January 3 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Morris’ name to Hospice of the Chesapeake or The Providence Center in Arnold.
