Lovingly known as Marlyn, she left behind a legacy of devotion, faith, and family. Born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1935, she was the youngest of three children. From an early age, Marlyn displayed a deep sense of responsibility and compassion, entering the workforce while still in high school to support her family during difficult times and care for her ailing parents.
Her life took a beautiful turn when she met Bernardo, a Seaman in the U.S. Navy, at a USO event. Their connection blossomed into a lifelong partnership, and they married in 1955. As a devoted Navy wife, Marlyn gracefully balanced the demands of military life with raising a growing family, eventually settling in Annapolis, Maryland. There, she became a cherished member of the St. Mary’s Parish community, where her children attended school and her faith flourished.
Marlyn’s generosity and spirit were evident in her many roles—Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, volunteer for the annual Flower Bazaar, and active participant in church life, especially through the Legion of Mary. Her unwavering commitment to Daily Mass and the recitation of the Rosary reflected the depth of her faith and the warmth she brought to those around her.
She and Bernardo shared 55 wonderful years of marriage, blessed with three sons who carry forward her values and love. Marlyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernardo. She is survived by her sons: Lawrence (Robbin) of Dover, DE; Michael (Kimberly) of Houston, TX; and Robert (Tammy) of Edgewater, MD. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren—Rebecca, Sarah, Maria, Bridget, and Elena—and two great-grandchildren, Grace and James.
Marlyn’s life was a testament to her faith, enduring love, and joyful service. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
