Mary Ellen Graham, aged 97, of Henderson Nevada, formerly of Arnold & Annapolis Maryland; died peacefully with her daughter by her side on Saturday, December 1, 2018.Mary was born March 24, 1921, in East Greenville Pennsylvania to Frederick and Latta Diehl. Unlike so many girls in the 30s & 40s, her parents encouraged her to go out into the world to see and experience as much as possible. Throughout the years she went to many countries & every state; treasured music, history, museums, & books. Mary lived her life with class and grace. She enjoyed sewing, hand crafts, gardening, spending time outdoors; traveling, but especially reading, and spending time with family & friends. She loved pink, butterflies, chocolate, coffee, giggling, surprises, & having her hair brushed.She earned her bachelors degree at Kutztown University, PA; and masters at University of Maryland. She also attended Penn State University for 2 summers and Oxford University England for 2 summers furthering her education. Her teaching career included elementary grades in PA, NJ, & MD. Most of her career was spent as a librarian/media specialist at Arnold and Jones Elementary. With her husband she was a member of the Annapolis Amblers (a Volksmarch group); and as such they did walks in all US states often in their capital, plus 8 countries. Many of those trips were done while enjoying motorhome trips. She was also an original member of the former AACC walking group.All of her life she was involved with church activities. When moving to Arnold in 1951 she became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Annapolis and there served on many committees, church choir, taught Sunday School classes, and several church officer positions. After retiring from the Anne Arundel County School System, she was the Church librarian, and organized a library in the Chaplains office at Ginger Cove where she resided for several years before moving to Nevada.In 2016, with failing eyesight and hearing, she moved from Ginger Cove in Annapolis to Las Vegas to live with her only daughter, Kelby and her husband Michael Brandow. She is also survived by her grandson A. Gregory Bateman, and great grandson Karl K. Bateman. Her husband of 19 years R. Graham died December 2007; and former husband of 27 years Orville Rollins died in 2011.Memorial services will be held on Saturday March 9, 2019 beginning at 11AM at First Presbyterian Church, 171 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis Maryland. Internment will be at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, East Greenville Pennsylvania.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Annapolis.
