

Mary Virginia Hoffman, 93, died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at BayWoods of Annapolis. Born February 27, 1921 in Hagerstown, Maryland, where she lived until moving to Annapolis in January, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Mary Boyer Hoffman and George C. Hoffman. Mary was a 1938 graduate of Hagerstown High School and attended the Margaret Morrison School of Nursing at Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, before marrying Paul Hoffman of Hoffman's Men's Wear in 1941. She was a Girl Scout leader, a devotee of local sports events including basketball in the Armory, baseball at probably all of the Washington County diamonds, jousting tournaments, dog shows and field trials, and was a member of the Service Workers at Zion United Church of Christ where she was a member. Mary is survived by her daughter Susan Snyder (husband Jim) of Annapolis, daughter-in-law Merla Hoffman of Colorado Springs, CO, grandchildren Dan Snyder (wife Tracey) of Annapolis, Brad Snyder (wife Betsy) of Wimbledon, England, and Beth Hoffman of Tucson, Arizona. There are six great-grandchildren: Owen, Brennan, and Amelia Snyder in England and Audrey, Sydney, and Will Snyder of Annapolis. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, R. Paul Hoffman of Hagerstown in 2008, daughter Ann Bagley (husband Lee deceased 2006) of Mesa, Arizona on 2008, and son Dr. J. Michael Hoffman of Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2012. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 1 pm at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Hagerstown.
