

She grew up in the Harper’s Ferry area of WV. After WWII, she and her family moved to Annapolis. She graduated from Annapolis High School in 1950. Shortly thereafter she married, Harold R. Parkinson “Parky”. They raised their 2 daughters, Patti and Sarah in the community of West Annapolis.
She had a long career in banking with Annapolis Banking and Trust where she created the teller training program and oversaw the head tellers. After retirement she returned as Branch Manager at Ginger Cove.
Hosting family and friends in her home was one of her greatest joys. She also enjoyed gardening, travelling, and yoga. She was a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church and was active for many years with the Altar Guild.
After living in Annapolis for many years she became a charter club member and Independent Living resident at Brightview Severna Park.
She is predeceased by her parents, husband, and brothers Walter E. Herr, Jr. and Jacob M. Herr. She is survived by her daughters, Patti Deterding (Chris) and Sarah Anderson (John); her five grandchildren, Amy Noll (Scott), Steve Deterding (Heather), Jim Deterding (Laura), Sean Anderson, and Nicholas Anderson. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, Gus and Kathryn Noll, Grace, Leah, Avery, Jane, and Evelyn Deterding, and Kazmier, Leanna, and Colette Deterding.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 24th at 11:00am at St. Martin’s-in-the-Field Episcopal Church in Severna Park. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors at Taylor Funeral Home in Annapolis between 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, August 23rd.
