

Mary Teresa Gray passed away on July 12, 2026, in her home at 524 Hillsmere Dr, Annapolis, MD. Born on March 25, 1937, in Elizabeth, NJ, she was the eldest child of Arthur M. and Gerarda (Burke) Farrell. Her siblings were Arthur, Thomas, Gerarda (Jody), and James, all deceased excepting Thomas. The family lived at 7 Johnston Dr., Watchung, NJ, and she attended St. Joseph’s School, North Plainfield, NJ, for her elementary education. For her high school education she attended Mount Saint Mary Academy, Watchung, NJ. During that time she showed excellence in chemistry and mathematics, winning an ACS prize in chemistry. Mary Teresa was also a talented dancer, performing at many venues in the area. Following her high school graduation in 1955, she received a scholarship to attend Georgian Court College, Lakehurst, NJ, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics in 1959. She was then employed as an Engineer at the RCA Semiconductor Laboratory in Somerville, NJ, doing research on the use of gallium arsenide in power transistors. She became a private pilot, actually receiving her pilot’s license before receiving her driver’s license.
In 1960, she met Michael A. Gray during his training program at RCA, and they were married on August 26, 1961, at St. Joseph’s Church, North Plainfield, NJ. In September, 1961, the couple moved to State College, PA, to attend graduate school at the Pennsylvania State University, she in mathematics and he in physics. Her Master’s program was cut short by the arrival of her first child and thereafter she concentrated fulltime on her family and homemaking. The family moved many times, living in Canada, Oregon, Minnesota, Texas, and Maryland. Each time Mary Teresa moved the family with grace and goodwill, always finding an opportunity in each new place for her talents in adult education, cooperative management, and senior services.
Her children, in order of age, are Mary Teresa, Michaeljohn, Kathleen Lorien, and Meg. Her grandchildren are Mary Teresa Gonzales(dec.), Michael Matthew Gonzales Fure, Paul Zembal, Elisabeth (Fure) Buntain, Brianna (Fure) Oliver, Max Revoredo, Andrew Revoredo, Grace Revoredo, Johanna Gray, and Angelina Revoredo. Her great-grandchildren are Emma Fenske, Ella Fenske, Etta Reed, Simon Gonzales, Niko Zembal, and Jude Buntain.
She was a lovely lady, talented and graceful, moving through all her life spreading joy and happiness. Always active in church, most recently she served as an Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s Church, Annapolis, MD, and as a member of St. Mary’s Nursing Home Ministry in Annapolis. She truly was a handmaid of the Lord.
Visitation will be held at John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, Maryland 21401 on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 10:30 am. Interment Private.
