

Michael Houghton 69, of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2025. A devoted husband, father, brother and friend, Mike will be remembered for his warm heart, quick wit, vibrant spirit and courage against all odds.
Mike was born on February 23, 1956. He spent his early years in Annapolis by the water. During his teens, he attended Dennis Hall Boarding school in Maine where his love of fishing, ice hockey, skiing and snowboarding were born. Mike became an expert snowboarder, traveling through Canada and the USA enjoying the slopes winning several competitions. During the warmer months he would fish anywhere he could drop a line.
Mike returned to the Washington, DC area to work for the Associated Press as a writer and photographer before pursuing a culinary career. He graduated from the International Baltimore Culinary College and went on to build a distinguished career as a chef, most notably at The Corinthian Restaurant at the Loews Annapolis Hotel and Sean Donlon’s, where his creativity and passion left a lasting mark on the local dining scene.
Outside of the kitchen, Mike enjoyed fishing, painting, playing his guitars, harmonica and drums, flying and reading any book he could get his hands on.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife Pamela and daughter Elysia Honey (Andy), brothers John (Jeni) and Mark, and Whitney Houghton. He was a cherished uncle to Angela, Eric, Natalie, Mark, Shaina, David, Camille, Noah and loved by Pam’s children, Bonnie and JP Finlay. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Cynthia, Great Grandmother Zita, Grandmother Gracie, brothers David, and Doug and his beloved dogs, Chip, Sable, Charlie and Jack.
Mike’s generosity, humor and zest for life will be missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of life will be held on June 3, 5:00pm - 8:00pm at the John Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401.
