Patrick Murdock McAllister

April 15, 1981March 15, 2021

With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Patrick Murdock McAllister, a lifelong resident and 16 year employee of the city of Annapolis. Patrick was 39 years old. He is survived by his beloved family: his 7 year old son, step children ages 12 and 10 and their mother, Christa Adle. He is also survived by his loving parents, Donnie McAllister, of Annapolis and Nancy E. Murdock, of Ashland, Virginia; his 3 adoring older sisters, all of whom currently reside in Annapolis: Molly H. Grigg, Gabrielle Hoeckel Verrier and Summer Forest Hoeckel, their father Murray Hoeckel and Patrick’s beloved niece, Ava Kai Verrier-Nass and his brother-in-law, Robert Grigg. Also surviving are his loving Aunts BJ McAllister and Patty McAllister Tita and Uncle Michael Tita, all of Annapolis; Aunt and Uncle Diane Murdock Bennett and Frank Bennett, and Betsy Murdock of Virginia Beach, and Jeanne Murdock, all of Richmond, 9. His loss is also grieved by numerous cousins and extended family members throughout the United States. Patrick was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Zilla and Woodson Murdock and uncle Carl W. Murdock, Jr. all of Richmond; and his paternal uncle Mac McAllister and grandparents Isabella and Robert McAllister of Annapolis. Above all, Patrick loved his family. He was happiest as a doting and involved dad and uncle. His other passions included music, especially playing guitar. He was fascinated by space and space exploration, enjoyed science-fiction and was a deep lover of Star Wars and Tolkien. He was a true green thumb and loved all plants and animals. Patrick was a self- taught computer whiz from a young age. In 2005, he joined the MIT Department at the City of Annapolis as an intern and earned his way to his lifelong career as a trusted and much loved member of that team. He was also the IT guy for his entire family. His sensitive heart and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. A GO FUND ME College Fund has been established for his young son, Brendon and son’s siblings. Memorial services are planned for Ashland, Virginia on April 10th, 2021, and at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, Maryland on April 17th, 2021. An online guest book is available at .

My cousin Pattie-Poo was one of the great joys in my life. It was a rush to be in his presence and I always felt cool and giddy when we hung out together as grungy teens. He was always so gentle and loving, and made me want to be a better person. He taught me to play guitar. We went to parties in the woods. My classmates had a crush on him. Once time we ate too much pizza and Aunt Nan had to teach us the yoga gas pose, which we did on the living room floor. We used to have sleepovers at Meemo and Beebo's, staying up all night watching horrible USA movies. I can never watch Jurassic Park without thinking about how much he cracked up when they release the raptors into their paddock. The only time I ever remember him being mad at me was also hilarious. We were playing Monopoly and when I landed on his property, he didn't notice before rolling the dice, so I escaped the fine. He flipped the board in the air and stormed away. I wish I could talk to him and hug him just one more time, but now I know he is at peace and that brings comfort. I have an email saved from when he was about to become a dad, and he was so excited and nervous. I was confident in his ability before he even know he could do it. And he did - he created a beautiful, precious boy with the love of his life. Patrick, I gave my first son your middle name, part homage to our family but decisively, also part homage to you. So now, a small part of you lives on in him, as well as in your son, and in the lives of every person you ever touched. I love you so much.

You were truly the most kindhearted person I have ever known. I am blessed to have known and to say we have been friends since kindergarten. You will be missed more than words can say.

Sending my love to everyone. Pat was truly one of a kind. I wanted to share this picture from years ago. We took a family vacation to Hilton Head and Pat and my husband Bryan thought it was a good idea to opt out on sunscreen for a short period of time. Needless to say, they fried in the sun and suffered the rest of the trip 🤭. Pat was always excited to share his latest toys, like when he got the first VR. He made all of us try the reality games before VR was a thing. He was so into tech and his love for it radiated. He will be missed by all of us. We are keeping everyone in our thoughts and prayers.

Each one of our precious family is so special to us, and Patrick is no exception. I will always remember the sweet little boy who made the jello, adding stuffed olives to give it color, and the day that he tasted jalapeno cheese and ran screaming from the room. He always got a bag of treats when leaving Memo's and Bebo's house to tide him over on the trip back to Annapolis. He grew into a loving young man who sent me a beautiful bonsai tree when I was on chemo, and took my old computer home with him and made it new again before sending it back to me. He was on call for all the questions I had about how to operate it. I lift my family into the light so that they might find peace, and cherish the time we had with this very special soul, and be comforted. I so love Patrick, and all of you.

I will always remember taking Patrick to. Charthouse for mud pie. We would sit by the window sharing our dessert. I was also with his mother and father at the hospital when he was born. Patrick was truley an angel. I love him so much.

Patrick, you were the kindest, gentlest brother that ever lived. You were my anchor and rock in the family, and a source of soaring joy from the moment I saw you. Your crazy wit frequently made me laugh too loudly at the wrong times. I will hold hold you with me in my heart forever.
