

She was born on December 2, 1924 in Koumousta, Sparta, Greece to Christos Panayiotis Stoubos and Emilia Stathakou Stoubou.
Her husband, James George Mandris predeceased her on April 11, 2005. She is survived by her son George James "Kip" Mandris of Baltimore, daughter Christine Mandris Turner and her husband Mark Turner, grandchildren Polina, Samuel and James Turner all of Berwyn, Pennsylvania.
Also surviving her are her sister, Alexandra Orfanakos of Baltimore, her brother-in-law Chris (Vasilike, deceased) Mandrapilias of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and her sister-in-law, Anastasia Stoubou, of Xirokambi, Sparta, Greece. Her other siblings preceded her in death, Georgia Karkoulas (Stavros, deceased) of Baltimore, Panayiotis Stoubos and Vasilike Stoubou, who died at 11, of Xirokambi, Sparta, Greece. She was also preceded in death by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Peter (Voula) Mandrapilias, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Basilis (Eleni) Mandrapilias, of Xirokambi, Sparta, Greece, Elias (Voula) Mandrapilias, of Athens, Greece, Pota (Constantine) Exarhakos, of Waranous, Sparta, Greece and Dina (Panayiotis) Karkambassis, of Sparta, Greece. Politeme also leaves many beloved cousins, nephews and nieces.
After World War II, during the Greek Civil War, Politeme married Dimitraki (James) on September 15, 1946. The following year, their son, George was born. She and George followed Dimitraki to America, arrived on March 24, 1952 and the next day, arriving in Annapolis, they began their lives in America. After her daughter, Christine, was born, she began her sewing business which she continued for several decades.
A member of Aghia Anna Philoptochos Society of the church since 1952, she was active in all aspects of the organization but especially in baking where “Diples” were her specialty. Eventually, Politeme and Dimitraki relocated to Baltimore and lived with their son, George. For the last several years, she lived in Berwyn with her daughter Christine’s family.
Her hobbies included baking, cooking, gardening, reading, crocheting, cross stitching and knitting. Politeme had a love of traveling but particularly enjoyed getting to spend time with relatives in Canada, Greece and the Carolinas.
Funeral arrangements will be in Annapolis, Maryland.
The visitations will be on Thursday, March 23rd 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at John M. Taylor Funeral Home 147 Duke of Gloucester Street.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, March 24th visitation 10:30 a.m., funeral 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church 2747 Riva Road. Interment will be immediately following at St. Demetrius Greek Orthodox Cemetery 2457 Riva Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
