

A descendent from a family with colonial ties to the Annapolis area , Ray was born to the late Raymond W. Clow Sr. and Gertrude L. (Greve) Clow on November 14, 1946. He is survived by his fiancee Ruth F. Thompson (McPherson), brother Richard L. Clow and sister Bertha Clow Maisel. He is the devoted father of three children; Jennifer Clow Sillaman, Raymond W. Clow III, and Brian J. Clow and leaves three grandchildren; Caitlyn and Nicholas Hayden (of Jennifer) and Grace (of Brian) as well as one nephew and three nieces.
Ray graduated from Annapolis Sr. High School with the class of 1964. After graduation, he worked with father as a carpenter. He later gained employment with his brother at Annapolis Construction, in the role of Vice President, working hand in hand with his brother Richard ‘Dick’. Dedicated to his responsibilities, Ray held this position for 40 years.
Ray had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a NASCAR racing fan and enjoyed traveling with his motorhome to motor speedways including Richmond, VA, Bristol, TN and Charlotte, NC. He was also a classic car enthusiast; fond of Bentley and Rolls Royce, over time becoming well acquainted with performing restoration and engine work.
Ray was a member for the Annapolis Elks Lodge #622 and Annapolis Sons of the Signers. He also participated in fundraisers for the Faces of Valor and was known to moonlight as a firetruck-driving Santa Claus with the Toys for Tots Foundation.
A man of kind disposition, Ray was a very easy going and happy person, and a very loving father. He was often seen at Hero’s Pub where he would frequent for lunches and would also host an annual Christmas gathering for his family.
Visitation for Ray will be held December 6, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home at 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401. A funeral service will take place at the Funeral Home Chapel on December 7, 2024 at 11:00 am followed by a graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 1911 Forest Dr. Annapolis, MD 21401. Reception to follow at the Elks Lodge 622 at 2 Pythian Dr. Edgewater, MD 21037
