

She was preceded in death by her parents Harry James Hennigar and Elsie Geneva Stoddard; and two brothers Major(RET)Harry “Jim” Hennigar and John Charles Hennigar; her son Jon Jay Martin, and her beloved husband of 69 years Frank James Martin Jr.
Ruth Ann was born and raised in Richmond Indiana where she met her future husband, Frank. In High School they began dating. While Frank was attending Indiana University and Ruth Ann was at Earlham Nursing Training, she was honored as Indiana University’s “ATO Sweetheart ”. She married her childhood sweetheart a second lieutenant in the USAir Force, Frank James Martin Jr.
She and Frank embarked on the travels as a young couple in the Air Force. They raised four children; Vickilee(Robert), Frank, Jon, and Kerry(Cathy). They were blessed with grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Haily(David), Sophia(Dan), and Dalton; also, great-grandchildren Scarlett and Brendon.
In 1979, Ruth Ann and her husband, co-founded the Martin Corporation which provided a broad range of marketing, management and consulting services for many of the nation’s and region’s leading builders and developers.
Throughout her life, Ruth Ann, found joy in many passions. She sang in the choir, performed in theater groups, enjoyed sailing, completing crossword puzzles, travel/cruises, architecture/design, sports/football, literature/Shakespeare and always kept a good book nearby. Music, has always held special place in her heart, especially classical and pipe organ music played by Mr Bryd.
The Boy Scouts was another of her pursuits. As an Eagle Scout, her Father had been heavily involved in the Boy Scouts. She became a Den Mother following his path. She is the proud mother of two Eagle Scouts; Frank and Jon.
She was a member of The Annapolis Yacht Club and the Albatross Sailing Society.
Frank and Ruth Ann and enjoyed sailing their sailboat, the C’est Si Bon on the Chesapeake Bay, for almost 50 years with fellow sailors; Nancy and Wally, Sam and June, Liz and Gil, Hal and Marge, Fran and Hugh.
She was a beautiful and gracious lady, always upbeat, known for her wonderful laugh.
She also leaves behind, in-laws & their families; Fredrick Thomas Martin(Doris), Johnnie Bowen(Terri), Jim Rahdert, Carol Nolte, Jay Martin(Debbie), Jack(deceased) Sue Martin, Jerry Martin(Nancy deceased), Kathy(John)Baker.
In addition, Ruth Ann is remembered by many extended family members Aunt Edrys, (nieces/nephews) who will deeply miss her.
She leaves behind special lifelong friends Beverly Carrol, Diane Barker, Kathy and Ron, Fran and Hugh, Lisa and son Drew.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the John M Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street in Annapolis.
Burial at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens will be private.
