Marron, Sandy (nee Laken) died Tuesday, December 6th at her home in Heritage Harbour, Annapolis, MD. She was 77. She was the beloved wife of Douglas Marron whom she married in 1978. She was born in 1945 to Bernie and Charlotte Laken in Baltimore, MD. She was the beloved mother of David Jones (Liz) of Owings Mills, MD and Dawn Conway (Marty) of Eldersburg, MD. She has 7 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter . She is also survived by her wonderful sister, Marilyn Laken of Asheville, NC.
Sandy attended the University of Maryland, College Park where she received her BA degree. She worked for 2 State of Maryland agencies where she worked with people with disabilities. She found these jobs to be most rewarding. She was a volunteer for the Breast Center at Anne Arundel Medical Center and especially enjoyed being a volunteer for Operation Paperback where she sent paperback books to soldiers overseas and to the veterans in VA hospitals. She worked with the Woman’s Club of Heritage Harbour on different committees. She had been a member of Temple Solel and Nevy Shalom where she served on the Board of the Sisterhoods. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, make new friends, her family and work on the computer. She was involved in legislation being passed in Maryland and then Federally to allow woman to have reconstructive surgery on one or both breasts to achieve symmetry after a mastectomy. She was a survivor from 1995. A graveside service and burial will be held in the Jewish section of Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Forest Drive, Annapolis on Friday, December 9th at 12 Noon.
