Shirley was born to John and Agnes Stevens in Eastport, Maryland in 1922. She lived on Sixth Street in Eastport until 1950 when she moved with her husband and children to Annapolis Roads.
She graduated from Annapolis High School in 1939. In 1944, she married Edward Rodowsky and they shared 53 years together. Edward passed away in 1997. Together they owned and operated a once corner grocery store in Eastport and turned it into a thriving deli and restaurant. In 1974, they sold the business and Shirley started working at Farmers National Bank where she spent 21 years retiring in 1995.
Shirley loved her garden and reading. She walked 3 miles every day until her legs grew tired. She especially loved doing cross stitch and her work is gracing many a table with her tablecloths and napkins.
She was preceded in death by her parent, her husband Edward, and her sisters, Betty Frazier and Fay Peregory.
She is survived by her son, Thomas and his wife Barbara Rodowsky, her daughter Darlene VanAmburgh and her husband Michael, and her son, Kurt Rodowsky. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Marc Donaldson, Dana Wachter, Michael Rodowsky and Heather Ertel. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
Friends and family may call at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, MD on Friday July 27 from 6 to 8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday July 28, 2018 at 9 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, MD. A Celebration of Life will follow. Burial will be private.
