Sylvia Margaret Wainio

Sylvia was born on December 3, 1946, in Aberdeen, Scotland, and was raised in Montrose by her mother, Evelyn Thomson. It was near Montrose, at the U.S. Naval Security Group Activity in Edzell, that she met the love of her life, Jack Wainio. They married in 1971 and were together for 41 years, until Jack's passing in 2012. After years of Navy life and moving from place to place, the family settled in Maryland.

Sylvia was a loving mother who was always there to take care of her family. She loved to travel and take photographs, and she had a special fondness for lighthouses. Some of her happiest times were adventures with her friends. She touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Jack. She is survived by her sons, Scott Wainio and Justin Wainio.

As she wished, there will be no service. Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to America's VetDogs at vetdogs.org.
