

Terry was born in Indianapolis, IN to Betty and Byrne Terhorst. He attended York Catholic, in York PA, and then graduated from Nicolet High School in Glendale, WI. He played football, was an Eagle Scout and also loved ice racing on Lake Minnetonka. Terry attended Georgetown University and the University of Minnesota where he ran collegiate Cross-Country and was ranked nationally. He was also a member of the Georgetown Chimes who sang at President Kennedy’s inauguration. He earned an MBA from Pace University and progressed his career in Technology/Sales to become an Executive Leader and CEO for multiple companies throughout his career. He married his wife, Lenora “Nan” Terhorst (Fitzgerald) in January 1966 and they had 56 wonderful years together traveling and enjoying life.
Terry was a true outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing and especially sailing but always could find time to read a good book. Reading blended into his passion for sailing by naming his racing boats, “Thorin” after The Hobbit. Terry was an avid racer both on the east and west coasts which led to many of his adventures and the addition of lifelong friends. He was a member of the AYC Racing Community and Race Committee for many years and was also was an owner of Fawcett’s Boat Supplies for 20+ years.
Terry was a natural leader which showed both in his business achievements and in his personal life. He was a caring and compassionate person with a wonderful and sometimes wicked sense of humor. He was also, honest, extremely smart and generous with his time, especially for his family. He instilled all of these amazing values in his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nan and their three daughters, Beth (Jeff) Bannan, Kim (Adrian) Tarquinio, and Teri (TJ) Minogue. He also had 8 grandchildren who fondly called him G’dad: Kirsten and Kendall Bannan, Alex, Reagan and Logan Tarquinio, and Finn, Fitz and Betty Minogue. He is also survived by his sister Tris (John) Atkinson and their children Katie (Shane) Tattan and Christopher (Diane) Atkinson. He was pre-deceased by his brother John Carl Terhorst of Indianapolis, IN.
