Thomas George George was born on October 5, 1944 in Baltimore Maryland and passed from this earth to eternal life on March 21, 2018. He was known as Tom and worked with students and students with disabilities for most of his career, primarily at Marley Glen School and Special Olympics as the Anne Arundel County Coordinator for many years. He was also a guidance counselor at a variety of schools for many years. He received his high school diploma at McDonough School in Baltimore and then onto University of Maryland at College Park for a Bachelor of Science Degree. After teaching for some time, he received his Master’s Degree in Counseling at The Johns Hopkins University and went onto working with students in that capacity in many Anne Arundel County Schools.
One of his crowning achievements was running the original marathon from Sparta to Athens in 1983 and many other local marathons and in other cities. He prided himself on training young athletes in the art of running and running with them in many races. In 1991 he traveled to the USSR to adopt our youngest child – Sasha George who was a bright spot for him. He also raised our two children – Andrew and Elizabeth from his wife’s previous marriage and did a spectacular and selfless job with them He was a friend to all and was always thought of as a very kind and gentle man. Everyone has a positive word to say about him.
He has two grandchildren, who of course are perfect in every way- Jaxon age 5 and Joseph age 11. He belonged to the Annunciation Cathedral in Baltimore for many years and attended Greek School. He currently belongs to St Constantine and Helen Church in Annapolis and will be interred in the cemetery there. He loved to go on cruises and traveled extensively throughout the world in his younger years. He will be missed by his family and friends and hope for a reuniting in our next life journey.
