

Bill’s parents were members of Trinity United Methodist Church and raised their children Bill and Betty Cadell Durm, Bill’s older sister in the faith. Bill remained a faithful member of the church all his life.
Bill and his wife Theresa (Storton) Cadell were happily married for 68 years until he went to be with our Lord and Savior.
In 1957, Bill and Theresa had one child, Kim Darlene Cadell Sternad.
As a young boy, Bill displayed his artistic ability through drawing and painting. He also liked to read and collect comic books.
He was an animal lover, and the family had many dogs and cats through the years. One favorite pet was a French bulldog from Canada whose name was Piccadilly Romeo the Third also known as “Happy.”
He enjoyed fitness and created a barbell club with friends in the neighborhood. They lifted weights and had competitions. He was a fan of the American heavyweight boxing champion, Rocky Marsiano. Good, clean, healthy fun.
After graduation from Annapolis High School in 1953, Bill began his career at the Nationwide Insurance regional office. He worked in several capacities including department supervisor and received many achievement awards.
Bill met Theresa, his wife to be, at that time, at a basketball game at Annapolis High School in 1954.
Bill and Theresa were married at Trinity United Methodist Church in Annapolis MD on Sept 16, 1956.
Later, he became a Nationwide Insurance Agent. Bill, and his good friend Skeeter Deale purchased and opened a business office together at 2521 Riva Road Annapolis MD. They ran and maintained this successful Insurance agency for decades until they retired in 1995.
He served in the Maryland National Guard and was honorably discharged after many years.
Bill became a Mason on March 16, 1957, and was Worshipful Master in 1965. He served at the Annapolis Masonic Lodge No. 89.
Bill was president of the Twilight Toastmasters Club in 1964.
He was a member of the Annapolis Elks for decades and enjoyed many events.
For leisure Bill enjoyed boating, swimming, and water skiing on Weems Creek, the Severn River and Chesapeake Bay with family and friends in the summer. He ice-skated on those same waterways in the winter. He liked to golf at local golf courses and in sunny Florida.
He followed the Baltimore Colts, Ravens, and Orioles and was an Army Football fan.
Bill and Theresa enjoyed vacations with family and friends to Ocean City MD, the Outer Banks NC, and the Gulf Coast of Florida. They became snowbirds, living in both Annapolis MD and St. Petersburg FL from the early 2000’s until recently.
Bill greeted everyone with a smile and pleasantries. At a gathering or just at home, he was quick to ask if you needed a drink or something to eat. He was always concerned with others’ well-being and put other people’s needs before his own. He had an enthusiastic sense of humor and loved to laugh with family and friends.
Remaining to cherish Bill’s memory are his wife Theresa, his daughter Kim Sternad, and her husband, Dirk Sternad, Granddaughter Lara Ashley Standiford and her husband Sam Standiford, and Great-Grandson, Rylan William Standiford, and his brother-in-law Bunk Durm.
Preceding Bill in death is his father William T. Cadell, his mother Marguerite (Orme) Cadell, his sister Betty Cadell Durm.
Bill, we will always carry your memory in our hearts, and we will miss you everyday until we meet again. We love you forever.
A visitation for William will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, Maryland 21401. Further visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 9 to 9:45 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1300 West St, Annapolis, MD 21401. A Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035.
