Steve was born on August 29, 1957. Steve was a 1975 graduate of Walter Wellborn High School. After high school he worked alongside his dad as a custom home builder at A.C. Murphree and Sons Construction. Together, they built beautiful family homes to be enjoyed for generations. Later, he owned and operated Steve Murphree Construction where he continued to build custom homes. After he retired from home building, he worked at the Anniston Army Depot.
Steve was an incredible person full of love, humor, and generosity. He had a deep love for his family, especially his son Brandon. Being a second dad to many nieces and nephews he always supported them in their daily lives and cheered on their many activities. He had a playful side, and often got them into and then out of trouble because he loved to gift them the messiest and nosiest toys, which brought lots of laughter and memorable moments.
He had a passion for cars, especially Corvettes, and enjoyed participating in car shows like First Friday. He was always eager to share and connect with other car lovers about his latest ride. Steve's talent in cooking, particularly his famous potato salad, added warmth and joy to family gatherings.
More than anything, Steve had a servant’s heart which was shown through his kindness and willingness to help without hesitation. He was loving, caring, giving, and always personable with everyone he knew. And, he always had great hair!
Steve was a member of Golden Springs Baptist Church in Anniston.
