Funeral Service will be on Thursday March 23, 2023, 2 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12 until 2 pm in the chapel. Rev. Johnny Pruitt will be officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove cemetery.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Sybil Harris (James); grandchildren, LeAnn Harris, Jamie Harris Hutcheson (Gary Jr); great-grandchildren, Preston Turner, Kaydence Hutcheson; step-great-grandchild, Briyana Hutcheson; nephews, Brad and Rodney Morrison, and niece, Denise Burgess; several great Nieces and Nephews and “Prissy” her fur baby.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Guthrie; her parents, Earl C and Eunice Morrison; sister, Ella Mae Poland and her husband Dee; brother, Earl C. Morrison Jr. and his wife Elnor; nieces Diane Mitchell and Rita Poland Strawn.
Alice was a member of Ohatchee 1st Baptist Church and also attended Boiling Springs Baptist Church. She was in the restaurant business starting with “Escape” in Ohatchee then owner of “Arrowhead” Restaurant in Ohatchee, for many years. She was known for her fried catfish and home cooking, and her Cream Cheese Pound Cakes. One of her favorite singing groups, was the Dosses. She looked forward to them coming to sing at Boiling Springs Baptist Church.
She was a Red Hatter of The Southern Flames of Ohatchee, AL. She was a member of Ohatchee Senior Citizens and was inducted into Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.
Thank you Jacksonville Heath and Rehab for taking good care of mother and the kindness and love that all of you gave to mother. A special thank you to all the workers on Unit 1, and Casey in finance.
