

Alisa Catherine was born on September 30, 1965, in Birmingham, AL, the oldest child of Luke and Judy Whittle. She attended W. A. Berry High School, where she graduated in 1983. She was an avid softball player, where she always wore #12. She and her team also made it to the Dixie League World Series. She loved her horse, Folly, and enjoyed yearly family vacations to Cumberland Falls, TN.
She moved to Jacksonville, AL, where she briefly attended JSU, worked as a waitress and a seamstress, and raised her eldest daughter, Jacy. She met and married Samuel McLean in 1992. They welcomed two children, Katie and Maren.
The family moved to Oxford, AL, where Alisa was a homemaker and foster parent. Here, their boys, Shane and Joey, were adopted into the family.
Alisa was a lover of all sports and could be found (and heard) at all of her children’s games or meets. She was a die-hard Alabama football fan and also loved to read, cross stitch, thrift, and nap.
She was a lover and strong willed. She was a mother to all in need of mothering, and she will be dearly missed.
Alisa is survived by: her five children, Jennifer Dopson (Tyler), James Shane Brown, Joey Brown, Kaitlin McLean, and Maren McLean; six grandchildren (Rory Catherine, Lexi, Holland, Annabella, Brooklyn, and Collin); her brother, L. Grant Whittle (Rochonne); and many of the kiddos she loved as her own.
Services will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Anniston, AL, on Saturday, November 26th, 2022, visitation starts at 10:00 a.m. and service to follow at 11:00 a.m., with a graveside gathering afterwards at Oxford Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in her memory be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
