Mr. Wallace was a loving and devoted Christian father, paw paw, uncle and friend. He was born and raised in the Piedmont area; graduated from Piedmont High School; served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Kearsarge aircraft carrier; lived in Oxford for 64 years and retired from the Anniston Army Depot. He was a founding, active member and deacon of Betta View Hills Church of Christ in Oxford and worshiped there for over 60 years.
Survivors include his three children, Terry Alvin Wallace (Jonna) of Helena; Donnie Edward Wallace (Beverly) of Florence; Angela Wallace Banks (Garry) of Oxford; four grandchildren, Rachel Wallace Fowler (Tevin) of Irondale; John Clinton “Clint” Wallace of Helena; Andrea Marie Banks of Leeds; Breanna Banks Watts (Landon) of Munford; three great grandchildren, Marley Rae Banks of Oxford; Eleanor Scotland Fowler of Irondale; Levi Parker Watts of Munford.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Juanita Rhinehart Wallace, his parents, Edward and Clessie Oswalt Wallace; three sisters, Ludie Wallace Cain, Dorothy Wallace Naugher and Jewel Wallace King; and two brothers, Calvin and Wayne Wallace.
Funeral services for Alvin will be Friday at 2:00 pm at Gray Brown Service Mortuary. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Linda Smith and Debra Smith for all the hours of caring for and loving our parents. You have been a blessing to our family in so many ways. We could not have made it through this without you. You are our angels.
