Andrew Lawrence Wackerle Jr.

Dad (Andrew Lawrence Wackerle, Jr.) was born in Selma, AL two years after his sister, Nancy. He graduated from Selma High School in 1975, started at Auburn University, and joined the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. This time in his life just further reinforced that WDE attitude, the nickname “Zook,” and his die-hard, never pull for Bama, Auburn love...”happy days.” After graduating in 1979, Dad worked with the USDA as a loan officer, meanwhile spearheading noble projects like Rainbow Omega. He stayed with the government office for over 40 years, positively influencing hundreds of people all the while.

He met the love of his life, his honey, Kathy, at Queen of Mercy Catholic Church in Montgomery in 1987. After their wedding in 1988, they were blessed with the sweet gift of baby Andrew, aka Drew, soon followed by Mary Katherine. He lived to love his family, showing them the true meaning of unconditional love, cool music, great cajun food, the importance of true friendships, and how to relax, decompress, and have a good time…“happy days.”

Other than living to serve his family, he quite simply just lived to serve. He constantly had his hands in committees and projects to make the world a better place for everyone—from the PTO and school board, grass cutting and serving at Sacred Heart Church, to sharing his love and knowledge of plants with the Master Gardeners, every bit of his time was spent with intention and love.

There’s not enough words in the world to summarize what a bright light he was, just know that if you’re reading this, Andrew loved you, you’re deserving of that love, and you oughta share that love and light like he did.

In lieu of being sad that he’s gone, just don’t be a stranger, and strive for more happy days.

Andrew is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Sr and Nell Wackerle, and his brother in law Joe Fiederer.

Andrew is survived by his always loving wife, Kathy Wackerle; super sweet Children, Andrew”Drew” III and Mary Katherine Wackerle; Sister, Nancy (Jerry) Camp; Brothers and Sisters-in-Law, Patty (Randy) Brown, Danny Fiederer, David (Carol) Fiederer, Michael Fiederer, Eric (Jennifer) Fiederer; Nieces, Jessie (Matt) Bauerschmidt, Hannah (Josh) Pridgeon, Wendy (Gary) Bailey; Nephew, Paul Fiederer; a bunch of other family that he truly cared about deeply; and his faithful dog Thor
